The Zhang Shouwei 张守微

Zhang Shouwei was a native of Jincheng (now part of Shanxi Province) during the Jin Dynasty.

Her husband’s family name was Zhao. After her husband passed away, in the first year of the Zhengda era (1224), she renounced secular life and became a Taoist nun. She studied under Yang Shouxuan, styled "Dongmiao Sanren" (the "Uninhibited Person of Profound Wonder"), at Yuzhen Nunnery in Yuci County, Taiyuan, and was formally initiated as a Quanzhen Taoist nun. Later, when wars broke out, she fled from place to place as a refugee; fortunately, she and her younger brother Dezhong both survived and made it back safely.

She traveled extensively to find the ruins of Xiuzhen Taoist Temple in Zezhou. She cleared the overgrown and barren land at the site and rebuilt two halls for worship, which served as a place for spiritual practice and reverence.
