The Zhang Side 张嗣德

Zhang Side (? - 1350) was the 40th Heavenly Master of the Zhengyi Sect.
His courtesy name was Taiyi. He was the second son of Zhang Yucai and the cousin-brother of the 39th Heavenly Master.
He succeeded to the position in the 4th year of Zhizheng (1344).

He was gentle and sincere by nature and skilled in writing poetry and prose. In the 13th year of Zhizheng (1353), he was officially appointed "Taiyi Mingjiao Guangxuan Tidao Dazhenren" (Great True Person of Taiyi, Bright Teaching, Vast Mystery, and Embodied Dao) by imperial decree. He took charge of the Three Mountains Talismans and administered Taoist affairs in the Jiangnan region for ten months before passing away due to illness.
