The Zhang Songgu 张松谷
Paul PengShare
Zhang Songgu (?-1300) was a native of Taiping County (now part of Anhui Province) in the Yuan Dynasty.
In the 18th year of the Zhiyuan era (1281), he resigned from his official post and lived in seclusion at the foot of Furong Peak in Huangshan Mountain. There, he encountered a Taoist immortal, who taught him formulas for taking elixirs and practicing bigu (a Taoist ascetic practice of abstaining from grain).

After practicing Taoism for many years, he attained enlightenment and ascended to immortality.
