The Zhang Xiu 张修

The Zhang Xiu 张修

Paul Peng

Zhang Xiu was the 19th Heavenly Master of the Zhengyi School.

His courtesy name was Dezhen, and he was the eldest son of Zhang Shiyuan.
By nature, he was simple and unadorned, and had no liking for luxurious decorations.
When people suffered from illnesses or hardships, he would use tree leaves to make talismans for treatment, which proved quite effective.

After inheriting the Taoist leadership, he passed down the method of Taoist ordination certificates (Lulu) to help people.
He lived to the age of eighty-five.

In the 13th year of the Zhizheng era of the Yuan Dynasty (1353), he was posthumously conferred the title "Zhenjun of Profound Mystery, Assisting Transformation and Manifest Blessing".
