The Zhang Yuanqing 张元庆

Zhang Yuanqing (? - 1498) was the 47th Heavenly Master of the Zhengyi School of Taoism.

His courtesy name was Tianxi, and his literary aliases were Zhengyi and Qiyi Zhangren (Venerable Qiyi).

He was the cousin of Zhang Yuanji, the 46th Heavenly Master. Proficient in poetry and calligraphy, he was erudite and knowledgeable. He succeeded to the position of Heavenly Master in the 9th year of the Chenghua reign (1473). In the 10th year of the Chenghua reign (1474), he went to the capital to have an audience with the emperor, and was conferred the title of "Zhengyi Sijiao Baohe Yangsu Jizu Shoudao Dazhenren" (Great True Person of Zhengyi Succession, Maintaining Harmony, Cultivating Purity, Inheriting Ancestral Legacy and Upholding the Dao) by imperial edict, and was put in charge of Taoist affairs nationwide.

In the 20th year of the Chenghua reign (1484), the emperor sent a eunuch to deliver an imperial order, commanding him to hold a grand Taoist ritual for protecting the people at the Supreme Shangqing Palace.

In the 11th year of the Hongzhi reign (1498), the emperor ordered him to pray for snow at the Chaotian Palace, and the prayer proved effective.

Shortly after, he passed away without illness.
