The Zhang Yuanxu 张元旭

Zhang Yuanxu (? - 1925), the 62nd Heavenly Master of the Zhengyi School of Taoism.
Styled Xiaochu, he was a xiucai (a scholar who passed the imperial examination at the county level) during the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty.

In the 30th year of the Guangxu reign (1904), he succeeded to the position. Proficient in Taoist magic, he transmitted talismans, registers, and official certificates to numerous disciples, exerting considerable influence in the Jiangnan region.
Skilled in writing, he supplemented and compiled the biographies of the 50th to 61st Heavenly Masters into Supplements to the Genealogy of the Heavenly Masters. He was praised by contemporaries as a scholar proficient in both Taoism and Confucianism. He passed away in the 13th year of the Republic of China (1924).
