The Zhang Zhengfu 张正夫

Zhang Zhengfu was a native of Linchuan (now part of Jiangxi Province) during the Southern Song Dynasty.

In the first year of the Qingyuan era of the Song Dynasty (Note: There is a possible error in the original text; the first year of the Qingyuan era of the Southern Song Dynasty corresponds to 1195, and "115" may be a miscopy), he traveled to the Xianghan region (an area centered on modern-day Xiangfan, Hubei, along the Han River). There, he met an extraordinary person who gave him guidance. Afterwards, he built a thatched hut at Nituo Zui in Jiujiang, and later constructed a Taoist temple on that site.

In the early years of the Jiayou era (1056-1063, Northern Song Dynasty; there may be a chronological inconsistency here, as the Jiayou era preceded the Southern Song Dynasty, and the timing may need further verification), the imperial court granted the temple the plaque name "Shousheng Guan" (Longevity and Sage Taoist Temple) and bestowed upon Zhang Zhengfu the title "Mr. Tonghui" (Wise and Enlightened Mr.). In the fifth year of the Yanyou era of the Yuan Dynasty (1318), he was posthumously re-bestowed the title "Zhenjun Fuhui Renyou Tonghui" (True Lord of Blessing, Benevolence, Protection, Wisdom, and Enlightenment). He served as the abbot of Shousheng Guan, overseeing the temple’s affairs.
