Zhang Zongji was a person who lived in the early Ming Dynasty.

As recorded in Baicheng Yanshui (A Record of Mists and Waters in a Hundred Cities): In the early years of the Hongwu era (1368), Taoism was standardized to establish official Taoist monasteries, and the Daoji Division (an official agency managing Taoist affairs) was set up.
During the Xuande era (1426-1435), the halls and verandas (of Taoist buildings) were gradually constructed. Consequently, Zhang Zongji raised funds to build the Miluo Treasure Pavilion, where rituals were held to worship Yufu (a Taoist deity or sacred object, literally "Jade Mound").
