The Zhao Daoyi 赵道一

Zhao Daoyi was a figure of the Yuan Dynasty.

He adopted the Taoist title "Quanyangzi" (literally meaning "Master of Complete Yang").

As a Taoist monk at Shengshou Wannian Palace on Fuyun Mountain, he noticed that Confucianism had Zizhi Tongjian (Comprehensive Mirror for Aid in Government) and Buddhism had Shihua Tongjian (Comprehensive Mirror of Buddhist Evolution) to record figures of their respective traditions. Inspired by this, he compiled three works: Lishi Zhenxian Tidao Tongjian (Comprehensive Mirror of Real Immortals and Their Cultivation of Tao Through the Ages) in 53 volumes, its sequel Lishi Zhenxian Tidao Tongjian Xupian in 5 volumes, and its postscript Lishi Zhenxian Tidao Tongjian Houji in 6 volumes. These works collectively recorded over 900 Taoist figures.
