Zhao Yuqing was a native of Huangyan during the Yuan Dynasty.

He withdrew from secular life and took delight in the Dao (Tao). He studied under a Quanzhen Taoist master from the north, with a firm will and unwavering resolve—for more than ten years, he never let his ribs touch the mat (a reference to the ascetic practice of sitting or meditating instead of lying down to sleep, showing dedication to Taoist cultivation).

He built the Yeyue Guan (Wild Moon Temple) at the northwest foot of Mount Weiyu. He compared the moon to his own body, and modeled the temple after the moon. This was to demonstrate his aspiration to follow the course of nature and attain a natural lifespan, aligning himself with the principles of nature.

Ordained at 25 after a dream from the Celestial Master, he has practiced for 25 years under Master Zeng Guangliang.
