Zheng Jinyuan (1276-1307)
Zheng Jinyuan was a native of Yongjia (now part of Zhejiang Province) during the Yuan Dynasty. He was also known by the Taoist title "Mingzhenzi" (Master of Bright Truth).
As recorded in The Stele of True Person Zheng: In the 27th year of the Zhiyuan era (1290), he followed Daoist Registrar Jia of Weihui to Yanjing (the capital, present-day Beijing) and resided at Tianbao Palace. Thirty years after receiving the ordination certificate and Taoist name from Yue Zhenren (True Person Yue), the 8th Patriarch of the Great Dao Sect, Zheng Jinyuan went to the capital again. Prince Qi bestowed upon him a purple robe trimmed with gold. He also received the "Divine Register and Esoteric Secrets" from Master Mingzhen, who personally wrote four chapters of Taoist teachings for him. From then on, Zheng Jinyuan's proficiency in Taoist doctrines and practices became increasingly renowned. Not long after, Master Jia passed away.

Zheng Jinyuan was then appointed as the Daoist Registrar of Weihui. In the 6th year of the Dade era (1302), the 10th Patriarch of the Great Dao Sect summoned him to the capital, promoted him to the position of Chief Supervisor, and entrusted him with the Patriarch's ritual brush, qin (a traditional stringed instrument), and sword, along with a lyrical piece. Thus, Zheng Jinyuan succeeded to the Taoist teaching position and established the Hall of All True Persons at Tianbao Palace to enshrine and worship the various Taoist masters who had propagated the faith.
In the 8th year of the Dade era (1304), he was ordered by imperial decree to hold a grand Jinlu (Golden Register) Taoist ritual at Tianbao Palace. After the ceremony, he was granted the titles "Great Master of Spreading the Teachings" and "True Person Mingzhen Huizhao Guanfu" (Bright Truth, Wise Illumination, and Contemplating the Return).
In the 9th year of the Dade era, he was again ordered to hold a grand ritual at Yuxu Palace.
In the 10th year of the Dade era, he held another grand ritual at Tianbao Palace.
Later that year (the 10th year of the Dade era), Zheng Jinyuan passed away at Longshan at the age of 41.
