The Zheng Xuanzhang 郑玄章
Paul PengShare
Zheng Xuanzhang was a figure of the Five Dynasties period. As recorded in Volume 3 of Old History of the Five Dynasties: "Zheng Xuanzhang's original name was Zhang, and he was equally famous as Xia Yinyan.
Due to his devout dedication to Taoist fire cultivation (a ritual practice involving offerings with fire) and his profound mastery of the subtle, ineffable principles of Taoism, his reputation reached the imperial court. During the reign of Emperor Taizu of the Later Liang Dynasty (907–912), he was bestowed the title 'Master Zhengyi' and granted the new name 'Xuanzhang'."
