Wang Changyu (? - 859), also known by his literary name Yixuanzi, was a native of Zizhou (present-day Santai County, Sichuan Province) during the Tang Dynasty.
According to Volume 45 of Lishi Zhenxian Tidao Tongjian (Comprehensive Mirror of the Dao-Practicing True Immortals Through the Ages), Wang Changyu once served as a prison administrator in a prefecture. He administered justice impartially, and his achievements in governance were renowned at that time.

He encountered a Taoist hermit named Luopo Xian (the "Down-and-Out Immortal"), who taught him the essential principles of Taoism, secret formulas for elixir refinement, and the method of preparing the Chilon Dadan (Red Dragon Great Elixir). The hermit also bestowed upon him the literary name "Yixuanzi".
Subsequently, Wang Changyu engaged in elixir refinement on Changping Mountain and Fenghuang Mountain. He passed away in the 13th year of the Dazhong era of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty (859).
