What is the Heart of Heaven and Earth in Taoism什么是天地之心

"Tian Di Zhi Xin" (天地之心, "The Heart of Heaven and Earth") refers to the mind of the union of Yin and Yang. The Daoshu Shier Zhong · Xiang Yan Po Yi states: "Heaven pertains to yang, earth pertains to yin. The Heart of Heaven and Earth is the mind in which yin does not separate from yang, yang does not separate from yin, and yin and yang are mutually united. When yin and yang are united, this mind exists; when yin and yang are divided, this mind is absent." The Heart of Heaven and Earth is the genuine and true mind — the heavenly conscience. Therefore, in learning and practicing the true Dao, one must first recognize the Heart of Heaven and Earth: "Once this mind is recognized and guarded without loss, the great foundation is established, and the rest is easy."

Taoism regards recognizing and preserving the Heart of Heaven and Earth as the primary step in cultivation, because it is through this unified mind that one may align with the natural order and ultimately return to the source of the Qi.
