What is the Tao Penetrating All as One in Taoism
An ontological principle of Daoist philosophy.
Zhuangzi · The Adjustment of Controversies states:
“Li and Xi Shi, grandeur, perversity, cowardice, strangeness —
the Dao unites all into one.
What is divided is formed;
what is formed is destroyed.
What is the Tao Penetrating All as One in Taoism
What is the Tao Penetrating All as One in TaoismAll things, whether formed or destroyed,
return and unite into one.”
All things under heaven, whether formed or destroyed,
are unified through one Qi.
All affairs under heaven, whether separated or joined,
are unified through one principle.
Though all things are originally diverse and distinct,
they share an identical nature and are unified in the Dao.
The Dao is the essential law of all things.
Grasping the connection of the Dao
allows one to unify and penetrate all things consistently.
