📖 Biographies of Immortals#49 of 70🌐 English & Chinese

Original Chinese

Chang Rong was a Daoist figure from Changshan, who claimed to be a son of the Yin king. He ate the roots of the peng plant — a practice rooted in Taoist herbal medicine and longevity cultivation — and traveled up and down, having been seen by people for more than two hundred years, yet his appearance remained like that of a man in his twenties. He was able to procure purple herb, sell it to dyers, and use the money to give alms to orphans and widows. He had done this for generations, and countless people offered sacrifices in his honor.

昌容

Original Chinese

The Yin woman forgot glory, never showing any lingering attachment. She softened her face with joy and changed it to a beautiful, bright red hue. The heart changes along with transformation, day by day refined through the power of qi and inner alchemy. While sitting or lying down, she possessed rare treasures and extended benefits to orphans and the lowly — embodying the compassionate ideal of Taoist immortal virtue.
