Does Taoism believe in immortals?

  Taoism believes in the existence of immortals and holds that through unremitting cultivation, people can ultimately reach the realm of immortals where both the body and the spirit are in perfect harmony and united with the Tao. The belief in immortals is the fundamental belief and a distinctive feature of Taoism, which is one of the greatest differences between Taoism and other religions. Among the numerous methods of cultivation and refinement for attaining immortality, the Neidan (Internal Alchemy) technique is the most core and crucial part, which is a comprehensive integration of these cultivation methods.
