The Ancient Books Hidden in the Tower 古书隐楼藏书

Paul Peng
Ancient Books Hidden in the Tower Collection was written by Min Yide, a renowned Taoist priest of the Qing Dynasty. Endowed with innate genius yet possessing the pure and balanced heart of a child, he embodied the "Supreme Heart Doctrine," practiced medicine to benefit the world, and transcended the level of ordinary alchemists, nearly reaching the ultimate state of harmony between heaven and humanity. After achieving enlightenment, Min Yide compiled the alchemical collection Ancient Books Hidden in the Tower Collection.

The theories, methods, and techniques in this book are all based on practical cultivation experiences, far from being mere theoretical speculations. It is filled with rare and genuine cultivation formulas—many of which, in the past, could only be imparted orally after midnight oaths and the offering of ritual gifts. Each book within the collection is explained in thorough detail. Most notably, the author candidly reveals all the mystical states he experienced during his cultivation, providing references for later practitioners and smoothing the path for sincere practice. This book truly deserves to be called a profound and comprehensive alchemical classic, both extensive and refined, pure and profound.

The collection includes sudden methods, gradual methods, non-action methods, and active methods. Despite the variety of approaches, they are all interconnected by a single thread, ultimately rooted in tranquility, purity, and balance. Practitioners who reflect on its contents can gain insights commensurate with their own level: those with shallow understanding will grasp its basic teachings, while those with deeper insight will attain its profound truths. It enables those of superior aptitude to directly enter the innate state, those of moderate aptitude to connect with the innate, and those of lesser aptitude to gradually approach it.

Furthermore, the book contains many age-old secrets that have never been disclosed elsewhere, which are rarely found in other alchemical texts. Admittedly, it does include a few incantations and ritual techniques, but these are all based on the foundations of purity, tranquility, and emptiness, making them incomparable to other heretical minor arts. The core alchemical methods expounded in the book directly inherit the lineage of ancient immortals—the so-called "primordial chaos Taoism," which stands as the supreme and highest teaching, a direct transmission of the Supreme Dao. Min Yide can truly be regarded as a practitioner of the Supreme Heart Doctrine.
