Lishan Laomu, also known as "Lishan Laomu" or "Lishan Laomu", is a Taoist deity. Jixian Zhuan (Biography of Gathered Immortals) records: "Lishan Laomu is an ancient female immortal with unparalleled grace and beauty."
Emperor Qin Shi Huang once encountered her on the corridor road of Lishan Mountain and tried to molest her, but was punished by her magic. Since then, she disguised herself as an old woman, and people called her "Laomu" (old lady).
Li Quan, a hermit in the Tang Dynasty, was fond of the way of immortals. He once obtained Huangdi Yinfu Jing (Yellow Emperor's Hidden Talisman Classic) from a stone wall in Songshan Mountain. He copied and read it thousands of times but still couldn't understand its meanings. Later, when he entered the Qin region, he met an old woman at the foot of Lishan Mountain. She was in ragged clothes, leaning on a crutch, and muttering to herself: "Fire is born from wood, and when a conflagration breaks out, it will surely overcome (wood)." Li Quan was greatly shocked because these were exactly the words from Huangdi Yinfu Jing. So he respectfully asked her where she had learned them. The old woman replied: "I have received this classic for three yuan and six cycles of the Jiazi (a 60-year cycle)!" Then she sat under a tree and explained the profound meanings of Yinfu Jing to Li Quan. Li Quan returned after eating the wheat rice given by the old woman. From then on, Li Quan abstained from grains and practiced Taoism, eventually becoming an immortal.
