The Rongchenggong 容成公
Paul PengShare
Rongchenggong, also known as "Rongchengzi", is a celestial being in Taoism. His deeds are recorded in books such as Huangdi Neijing·Suwen (The Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon·Plain Questions), Shenxian Zhuan (Biographies of Immortals), Liexian Zhuan (Biographies of Immortals), and Xuanyuan Benji (Chronicles of Xuanyuan).
Ge Hong's Shenxian Zhuan states: "His courtesy name was Zihuang, and he was from Daodong." It also mentions that he "practiced the Dao of Xuan and Su, achieving boundless longevity". Liexian Zhuan regards him as the teacher of Laozi and also claims that he once served as a teacher to the Yellow Emperor.
Rongchenggong was skilled in nourishing and guiding techniques, preserving life and cultivating vital energy, with the ability to make white hair turn black again and fallen teeth regrow. Zeng Zao of the Southern Song Dynasty compiled Daoshu (Pivot of Taoism) and wrote a chapter titled "Rongcheng". Fujian Tongzhi (Comprehensive Records of Fujian) records that Rongchenggong resided in Mount Taihu to refine elixirs and later lived in Mount Kongtong.
