The Seven Luminaries Gods of the Five Planets are seven star deities in Taoism. The "Five Planets", also known as "Five Luminaries", refer to Jupiter, Mars, Venus, Mercury, and Saturn. Together with the Sun and the Moon, they are collectively called the "Seven Luminaries". Xuanmen Baohai Scripture states: "The yang essence is the Sun, and the yin essence is the Moon. The essences of the Sun and the Moon are divided into stars. All stars, in accordance with the true Dao, nurture twelve thousand kinds of creatures, down to livestock, manure, grass, and trees, all of which are nourished by the secret Dao and essential virtues to grow." This means that the "Five Planets and Seven Luminaries" are all manifestations of the Dao. Heaven and earth rely on the true qi of the Sun, Moon, and stars to nurture all things.

Sun Lord
The Sun Lord originated from the ancient people's worship of the Sun. Taoism regards the Sun as the yang essence, calling it "Sun Palace Supreme Cinnabar Blazing Light Luminous Sun Emperor" or "Sun Palace Sun Emperor, Filial Piety Immortal King", and is depicted as a male figure. Taishang Dongshen Five Stars, Various Constellations, Sun and Moon Hun Chang Scripture states that those who encounter the Sun Lord "will surely obtain immortal techniques".

Moon Lord
The Moon Lord originated from the ancient people's worship of the Moon. Taoism regards the Moon as the yin essence, calling it "Moon Palace Yellow Blossom Plain Radiance Primordial Essence Sacred Queen Lunar Yuan Lord" or "Moon Palace Lunar Emperor, Filial Piety Bright King", and is depicted as a female figure. Taishang Dongshen Five Stars, Various Constellations, Sun and Moon Hun Chang Scripture states that those who encounter the Moon Lord "will obtain whatever they seek, and what they obtain is the technique to transcend the world and achieve immortality".

True Sovereign of Jupiter
The True Sovereign of Jupiter, also known as "Eastern Jupiter True Sovereign" or "Wood Virtue True Lord". Yunji Qiqian points out the name of the True Sovereign of Jupiter: his given name is Chenglan, and his courtesy name is Qingning. Taishang Dongzhen Five Stars Secret Transmission Scripture describes the duties of the True Sovereign of Jupiter, stating that he "presides over the growth of all things, transforming gloom into comfort. True Sovereign of Venus
The True Sovereign of Venus, also known as "Western Venus True Sovereign" or "Metal Virtue True Lord". Yunji Qiqian points out the name of the True Sovereign of Venus: his surname is Haokong, and his given name is Debiao. Taishang Dongzhen Five Stars Secret Transmission Scripture describes his duties, stating that he "presides over the gathering and storing of all things, announcing the completion of achievements with solemnity.
