Stopping random thoughts means eliminating distracting thoughts from the mind and then focusing single-mindedly on practicing static meditation. Often, people do not realize they have distracting thoughts in their minds during daily life, but when they sit in meditation, all these distracting thoughts emerge. Only by using the method of stopping thoughts through static meditation to eliminate distractions can one practice static meditation effectively.
