What is the Ming 命?
Paul PengShare
Ming (命), referring to human lifespan. Taoism holds that the length of human life is a natural law, yet it is directly influenced by one's good or evil deeds and the abundance of desires.

By performing many good deeds, cultivating virtues of being quiet and having few desires, as well as practicing internal and external alchemy, one can live out their natural lifespan, or even attain Dao and become an immortal, achieving eternal life without death.
