Tao Te Ching Chapter 33

知人者智，自知者明。胜人者有力，自胜者强。知足者富。强行者有志。不失其所者久。死而不亡者寿。
He who knows other men is discerning; he who knows himself is intelligent. He who overcomes others is strong; he who overcomes himself is mighty. He who is satisfied with his lot is rich; he who goes on acting with energy has a (firm)will.
He who does not fail in the requirements of his position, continues long; he who dies and yet does not perish, has longevity.
【译文】知晓他人是智慧，了解自己是明达。超出他人的人有能力，超越自我的人刚强。懂得满足的人就是富人。竭力前行的人是意念坚定的人。不丧失自己所坚持的才会长久。形体死亡而精神存在的才是长寿。
【Translation】
Knowing others is wisdom, understanding oneself is enlightenment. Those who surpass others have ability, those who surpass themselves are strong. The one who knows how to be content is wealthy. The one who strives forward with determination is resolute in thought. Only by not losing what you hold onto can you last long. It is longevity that exists when the body dies but the spirit lives on.
