Imperial Incantation to Ward Off Ominous Dreams of Supreme Emperor
The Two Mysteries of the Seven Chambers, the Primordial Essence of the Three Simplicities.
Taiyi and Taokang, ascend to the Three Pure Ones.
Hasten to inform the Imperial Lord, gather and secure the life of Huangning.
Hasten to summon the seven souls, verify their truth in the Divine Hall.
If there be inauspicious omens, the ghostly soldiers of the Seven Corpses.
Call forth the Two True Ones, let radiant light refine the form.
The Great Deity of the Supreme Microcosm, smite and slay the evil essences.
May the three souls be gentle and harmonious, let the Blood Corpses sink and vanish.
Let the spirit return to its eternal abode, and all undertakings be auspicious and prosperous.
Make me an immortal, and preserve me for endless kalpas.

九天上帝，四门八灵。

Taoism holds that sudden inauspicious dreams, dreams of strife with others, or dreams of being restrained are all caused by the wandering corporeal souls of Seven Souls. Such dreams may lead to external ghosts entering one's home, the dissipation of Three Souls and strife among the Five Spirits, or being bound and unable to return. Hence, inauspicious nightmares arise, portending misfortune and decline.
Upon waking, one may lie upright facing the sky, place the hands folded on the chest, tap the teeth twenty-one times, and recite this incantation to entreat the Great Deity of the Supreme Microcosm to smite and slay evil essences, and make the Blood Corpses sink and dissipate. After reciting the incantation, tap the teeth fourteen more times and swallow saliva ten times. This will harmonize and refine the three souls, subdue the seven souls, sharpen the spirit and purify the vital breath, dispel all foul qi from the body, and the ghosts that brought the curse shall be punished in the underworld. After reciting the incantation three times, no abnormal dreams shall come, save for auspicious visions inspired by the divine spirits.
