Annotated Edition of the Sacred Thunder Scripture

This book is a collected annotation of The Precious Thunder Jade Pivot Scripture. Its annotations are divided into four parts: "Zhu Ri" (Annotations), "Yi Ri" (Explanation of Meanings), "Shi Ri" (Interpretation), and "Zan Ri" (Eulogy), which are falsely attributed to Bai Yuchan (the Perfected One of Haiqiong) for annotations, Zhang Ling (the First Heavenly Master) for explanation of meanings, Heavenly Lord Zhang (the Envoy of the Five Thunders) for interpretation, and Lü Dongbin (the Pure Yang Emperor) for eulogies.

The annotations focus on explaining the scripture through the art of Taoist Talismans, aiming to eliminate calamities and deliver beings from misfortunes. It also supplements seventeen kinds of incantations and talisman diagrams, such as Chapter of Perfect Auspiciousness, Chapter of Aspiring to Immortality Through Dao Practice, Chapter of Summoning the Nine Numinous and Three Essences, and Chapter of Resolving the Conflicts of the Five Elements and Nine Luminaries, which are also used to summon deities, expel ghosts, eliminate calamities and deliver beings from misfortunes.

At the end of the book, there is a postscript written in the thirty-ninth year of the Zhishun reign of the Yuan Dynasty (1333) by Taixuanzi (Zhang Sucheng), the Thirty-Ninth Heavenly Master, which states: "The Thunder Jade Scripture encountered by Xuanyangzi... is not kept secret by himself, but is about to be engraved and disseminated widely." From this, it can be known that this book was actually compiled and published by Xuanyangzi, a Taoist priest of the Zhengyi Dao in the Yuan Dynasty.
