Biographies of Eminent Taoists
Yan Yiping, a scholar of modern times, compiled a four-volume restored version, which is included in the first series of Taoist Research Materials. This book collects the life stories of renowned Taoist priests throughout the dynasties, spanning from Zhang Daoling, the Celestial Master of the Eastern Han Dynasty, to Zhang Wumeng, a Taoist priest of the Zhenzong Emperor period in the Northern Song Dynasty, with a total of eighty-five figures each having an individual biography. Among them, the deeds of eminent Taoists in the Tang and Song Dynasties hold important reference value for the study of Taoist history of that time. The book is also recorded in Catalogue of Lost Scriptures in The Daozang.
