Compiled by Chen Jingyuan, a Taoist Priest of the Northern Song Dynasty.

In six volumes, it is included in the Jade Commentaries Category of the The Dongshen Section of The Daozang. This book records annotations from five scholars: Wei Chuxuan, Xu Daomiao, Chongxuanzi, Li Rong and Liu Renhui.

Collected Commentaries on the Western Ascent Scripture

During the compilation of the annotations, the compiler first collated the original scripture, and then deleted the inappropriate interpretations in the existing annotations. The preserved annotations of the five scholars are of considerable documentary value, serving as precious materials for studying Taoism thought during the Southern and Northern Dynasties, Sui and Tang dynasties.
