Daoist Cultivation Compendium
This is a major collection of Taoist texts on Internal Alchemy, composed of ten monographs or miscellaneous works, totaling more than sixty alchemical texts. Most of the included works are written by Taoist priests of the Southern Sect of the Zhong-Lv Golden Elixir School during the Northern and Southern Song dynasties, as well as books on cultivating the Dao and nurturing life compiled by Tang Dynasty authors, and works by Taoist priests of the Quanzhen School in the late Jin Dynasty. The bibliography and contents are as follows:
- The first book, Miscellaneous Works: Chapters on Pointing Out the Profound (8 scrolls), collects twelve works on internal alchemy and life cultivation, authored by Zhang Boduan, Bai Yuchan, Shi Tai, Xue Daoguang, Chen Nan, Master Xishan, and others.
- The second book, Collection of the Golden Elixir Achievements (5 scrolls), compiled by Xiao Tingzhi of the Southern Song Dynasty, containing several essays and poems on internal alchemy.
- The third book, Transmission Collection of Zhong-Lv (3 scrolls), attributed to Shi Jianwu, a Taoist priest of the Tang, Five Dynasties, and Song dynasties, recording the alchemical methods imparted by Zhongli Quan to Lü Dongbin.
- The fourth book, Shortcuts in Miscellaneous Works (5 scrolls), collects more than ten works on internal alchemy and life cultivation, authored by Yanluozi, Zeng Cao, Chen Nan, Hermit of Linwu, and others.
- The fifth book, Awakening to the True (5 scrolls), written by Zhang Boduan, with annotations by Ye Shibiao, Yuan Gongfu, Wumingzi, and others.
- The sixth book, Yulong Collection (6 scrolls); the seventh, Shangqing Collection (8 scrolls); the eighth, Wuyi Collection (8 scrolls)—all compiled by Bai Yuchan of the Southern Song Dynasty, containing dozens of prose works and more than 200 poems and ci-poems by Bai.
