Golden Jade Charts of Star Contemplation
This text falsely claims to be a teaching bestowed by the Supreme Lord Laozi to Zhang Daoling at Heming Mountain, elaborating on the method of contemplating deities and coroneting oneself with stellar auras. It records the methods of coroneting the Five Planets, the Seven Dippers and the Twenty-Eight Mansions. The Five Planets refer to Jupiter, Venus, Mercury, Mars and Saturn; the Seven Dippers denote the Seven Primordial Stars of the Big Dipper, namely the seven stars of Kui, Mian, Wang, Ba, Cuo, Qiao and Wang.
Practitioners are instructed to contemplate the astral essences of these stars attaching to various parts of their body—hands and feet, shoulders and elbows, crown of the head, and heart—and recite incantations silently. They then pace the celestial dippers and step the divine steps in accordance with the Diagrams of the Yu Step and the Nine-Trace Step. By doing so, one can subdue demons and control ghosts, contemplate divine spirits and dispel calamities.
