Originally attributed to "Zhao Min, Jiangzhenzi of Xiqin (Zhao Min, Jiangzhenzi from Western Qin)".
Little is known about Zhao Min’s life. Judging from his theories on the Golden Elixir, he was presumably a scholar of the Song Dynasty.

The original work consists of one scroll and is included in the Tai Xuan Section within the Taoist Canon (The Daozang).
This text collects thirty seven-character regulated poems, eulogizing Internal Alchemy (Neidan). Its doctrines follow the Dao De Jing and Yinfu Jing (Scripture of Hidden Contracts), consistent with the alchemical Dao of Zhang Boduan in the Northern Song Dynasty but lacking systematicity. The author claims to have encountered a supreme person who imparted the method to him, leading to his attainment of the Dao. He left Qin and wandered, "hiding his trace as a Confucian and mingling with the mortal world"—presumably a wandering Confucian scholar.
