Paul Peng

Liangqiuzi's Outer Vision Commentary

Annotated by Liang Qiuzǐ (Bai Lüzhong) of the Tang Dynasty.

It was recorded as one volume in History of Song·Bibliography of Arts and Literature. The existing version in The Daozang consists of three volumes, included in Xiuzhen Shishu (Ten Books of Cultivating Truth) (Method Category of the The Dongzhen Section).

Liangqiuzi's Outer Vision Commentary

Other surviving versions include those collected in Daozang Jiyao (Essentials of the Daozang) and Daozang Huazhong Lu (Excerpts of Gems from the Daozang). This book explains the text of Huangting Waijing Jing (Scripture of the External Landscape of the Yellow Court) sentence by sentence, providing concise and accurate interpretations of the locations of dantians, names of body spirits, cultivation essentials, as well as obscure verses and terms described in the original scripture.

The core purport of its annotations is roughly the same as that of Liang Qiuzǐ’s Annotations on the Jade Scripture of the Internal Landscape of the Yellow Court.
