Primordial Nine Lights True Scripture

Author unknown, presumably compiled between the The Tang Dynasty and the Song Dynasty.

Consisting of one scroll, it is included in the Scripture Text category of the The Dongzhen Section within The Daozang.

Primordial Nine Lights True Scripture

The scripture opens with over three hundred characters of four-character verses, stating that the Great Brahma is neither non-existent nor existent, its true essence being natural. It descends as a divine spirit into the mortal world to become the essence and soul of humans: the yang soul safeguards the essence, and the yin soul nurtures the blood. If mortals can uphold the One and preserve the true self, they may keep their true essence unaltered, transcend the mortal to attain the true state, and return to the Great Brahma.

It also states that constant recitation of this scripture can make essence and blood congeal within the body, unify the physical form and the spirit, and drive away evil demons and evil spirits, for "in time, the spirit and qi will merge as one, the concentrated spirit will form the body, and the gathered essence will constitute the substance". At the end of the text is appended the "Universal Salvation Incantation for All Souls in the Mixed Yuan Kalpa" as spoken by the Primordial Lord.
