The author is unknown, and it was presumably composed between the Tang Dynasty and the Song Dynasty.

Consisting of one scroll, it is included in the Benwen Category of the Dongzhen Section within the Daoist Canon (The Daozang).

Primordial Yang Talisman Scripture

With a total of just over 140 characters, the entire text is in rhymed four-character verses, and its meaning is rather abstruse and obscure. It contains lines such as "Blood nourishes the five viscera, the divine talisman aligns with the Fire Lord; brain is infused with precious fluid, the embryo rises to assist the true self; the heart and mind remain unshaken, spirit stirs the Gate of Vitality"—phrases that appear to be mnemonics for sexual cultivation and nourishment practices.
