This text constitutes the second half of Zhong Liquan’s Ode to Breaking Delusions and Verifying the Dao. It was extracted as an independent work in the Daoist Canon (The Daozang) and included in the Jade Instructions Category of the Dongzhen Section.
Scripture of Concentrated Spirit
Composed in poetic form, it expounds the method of Internal Alchemy cultivation. It holds that the path of cultivation requires gathering and harmonizing the innate primordial Qi (Vital Energy), accumulating true Qi in the void, and taking heaven and earth (Qian and Kun trigrams) as the cauldron and vessel. As the verse states: "Grasp yin and yang and bring them into your palms; in an instant, creation and transformation arise"—this is the "Dao of immortality through concentrating the spirit in chaos," rooted in the balance of Yin and Yang.
