Tales of Questionable Immortals
A short preface by the author explains that all the stories were heard casually from friends. He did not dare to label the figures as immortals directly, so he named the work Tales of Questionable Immortals. The book contains 22 mythical stories of characters including Li Yuan, the Old Medicine Seller, the Qin-Carrying Scholar, Ge Yong, Dong Fangxuan, and the Bamboo-Playing Girl, most of whom lived after the Kaiyuan period of the Tang Dynasty. The plots are similar to Tang Dynasty chuanqi fiction.
