The Cai Qiyun 蔡栖云
Paul PengShare
Cai Qiyun was a native of Linxiang (present-day Changsha City, Hunan Province) in the Yuan Dynasty.
He was fond of reading and proficient in Taoist arts. He traveled extensively to famous mountains and once studied under Venerable Master Liu from Wudang Mountain, who taught him the Scriptures of the Mysterious Grotto (a classic text of Taoist doctrine and rituals).

Cai Qiyun traced the lineage of the transmission of these teachings, painted portraits of each successive revered master (going up to Yushu Qingling Jun, a celestial deity in Taoist cosmology), and compiled all this into a volume titled Preface to the Genealogical Chart of the Mysterious Grotto Scripture Sect. After this preface, he also included accounts by previous generations that detailed the origin and development of the Taoist arts, as well as the essential contents of the transmitted scriptures.
