The Celestial Benediction Chant 大洞经吉祥神咒法

Paul Peng

The Celestial Benediction Chant FULL NAME IS

The Method of the Auspicious Divine Incantation from the Great Cavern Scripture

The author is unknown. It was probably compiled during the Song and Yuan dynasties.
It consists of one scroll and is included in the Supplementary Taoist Canon (Xu Daozang).

This book contains a long five-character-line divine incantation, titled "The Hundredfold Auspicious Tanshijun Jade Sound Divine Incantation". Among its more than two hundred lines, the phrase "auspicious Tanshijun" appears ninety-seven times. According to Annotations on the Jade Pure Supreme Infinite Universal True Wenchang Great Cavern Immortal Scripture compiled by Wei Qi of the Yuan Dynasty: "Tanshijun is the auspicious sound emanated by the Primordial Heavenly Sovereign, which originates from the Great Cavern Immortal Scripture." Reciting this incantation can free one from disasters and sins; when one’s merits and practices are perfected, they will ascend to the heavens in their physical form.

This text was likely compiled and adapted by Taoist priests of the Song and Yuan dynasties, excerpted from the Wenchang Great Cavern Immortal Scripture.
