Divine Talismans

The second category of the Twelve Categories in the classification system of Taoist scriptures.

Taoist Doctrine Essentials·Meaning of the Twelve Parts explains that "shen" (divine) implies unpredictability, and "fu" (talisman) derives its name from tally or contract.
Thus, it states: "Shenfu refers to the texts written in dragon-shaped and phoenix-style scripts, the characters of spiritual and miraculous talismans."

Early works such as Lingbao Five Talismans and subsequent books that interpret or elaborate on talismans are all classified under this category.
