The Scripture of the Three Officials' Sacred Titles Spoken by the Primordial Lord of Heaven

Author unknown, seemingly compiled during the Song and Yuan dynasties.

It consists of one scroll and is included in the Scriptures of the True Greatness section, Original Texts category of the Daoist Canon.

The scripture fictitiously depicts the Primordial Lord of Heaven imparting the sacred titles of the Three Officials to the Barefoot Immortal:

  • The Upper Principal, the Blessing-bestowing Heavenly Official, the Great Emperor of Purple Weaving
  • The Middle Principal, the Sin-remitting Earthly Official, the Great Emperor of Pure Emptiness
  • The Lower Principal, the Calamity-resolving Water Official, the Great Emperor of Cavernous Yin

It is said that mortals in the mortal realm who recite the sacred titles of the Three Officials can be freed from disasters and misfortunes.
