The Hu Hezhen 胡合贞

Hu Hezhen was a native of Laohekou, Hubei Province during the Republic of China period.

Born into a wealthy family, she had been fond of charitable giving and doing good deeds since childhood, earning the title "Virtuous Woman Hu" among people of her time. She once donated money to the Shan Shu Tang (Benevolent Books Hall) in Laohekou to engrave and publish Taoist scriptures such as Taishang Ganying Pian (Treatise on the Response of the Tao) and Xuantian Shangdi Baowen Jing (Scripture of Emperor Xuantian's Repayment of Kindness) for circulation in the world.
Later, she became a Taoist nun, studying under Xu Benshan at Wudang Mountain, and was respectfully addressed as "Grandma Hu" by others.

She lived in seclusion at Xian'gu Cave on Yunu Peak (Jade Maiden Peak). Subsequently, she built Miaoxian Courtyard, restored Yuzhen Palace, and served as its abbot.

She passed away peacefully without illness in her later years.
