The Jing Zhichang 景知常

The Jing Zhichang 景知常

Paul Peng
Jing Zhichang was a native of Dengzhou (now Deng County, Henan Province) in the early Song Dynasty.

In his youth, he became a Taoist priest and studied under Zhao Zhan'ao (literally "Zhao the Felt Jacket").
As stated in Gazetteer of Nanyang Prefecture (Nanyang Fuzhi), he possessed extraordinary Taoist abilities: divine light would appear in his room at night. Emperor Taizong of Song heard of his Taoist attainments and issued an imperial edict summoning him to the capital. Not long after, Jing Zhichang resigned and returned home, and his final whereabouts remain unknown.
