Li Baozu

Li Baozu was a native of Minshan Mountain (now part of Sichuan Province) during the Southern Dynasties.
Within the Daoist community, he was known by the title "Taiqing Yougong" (Right Lord of the Great Clarity).

He encountered an extraordinary person (a Daoist adept or immortal), who imparted to him the formula for "Qingjing Fan" (Green Essence Rice—a nourishing alchemical preparation in Daoism). With this practice, he was able to achieve "bigu" (the Daoist art of abstaining from grain) and no longer relied on ordinary food for sustenance.
