Li Fuxin (1734-1835) was a native of Linfen County, Pingyang Prefecture, Shanxi Province during the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty. He was originally from a noble family and had a profound mastery of poetry and books, yet he had no desire to pursue an official career.

When he traveled to Wudang Mountain, he studied under Master Wang (a Taoist preceptor specializing in precepts) at Longquan Guan (Dragon Spring Temple), and adopted the name "Fuxin". Later, he lived in seclusion in Zhongnan Mountain for several decades.

He was fond of growing long fingernails, which reached several feet in length. Curled like snakes, his fingernails were protected in bamboo tubes—this made people at the time regard him as an extraordinary figure. In the first year of the Daoguang reign (1821), he went to Baiyun Guan (White Cloud Temple). He wore a tattered Buddhist robe and a ring-shaped skirt around his waist, so people of that era called him "Master Huanqun" (Master of the Ring-Skirt).

He was proficient in medical skills, saving lives and helping the world without caring about rewards.

In July of the 15th year of the Daoguang reign (1835), he passed away at the age of 102 and was buried at Sanxian Fen (Three Immortals Mound) in Baiyun Guan.
