The Liu Lishan 刘理山
Paul PengLiu Lishan, a native of Shandong during the Republic of China period, once served as a Major General Brigade Commander in Feng Yuxiang's troops. After the Jiang-Feng War, he grew tired of military life and resigned from his official post to become a Taoist priest in 1929.
He resided at Sanqing Hall of Chaoyang Cave on Wudang Mountain and served as the abbot. During his stay on the mountain, he lived frugally, raised funds through almsgiving, and renovated the mountain and its temples.
Liu Lishan was also proficient in medical skills and treated patients without charging any fees. In 1944, he traveled to Xiaonan Sea as a wandering Taoist priest and his whereabouts have been unknown ever since.
