Lu Helin was a native of Xiaogan, Hubei during the Republic of China period.
He became a Taoist Priest at Zixiao Palace on Taihe Mountain (Wudang Mountain), and later served as Xunzhao (Inspector) at Changchun Temple. Soon after, he was repeatedly promoted to Zhike (Guest Manager) and Zhangfang (Accountant).

He had a calm temperament, and was diligent, prudent and never slacked off.
Later, he met an extraordinary person from the Guanzhong region who taught him astronomy. Subsequently, he traveled around Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces and lived in seclusion on Fenghuang Mountain in Hangzhou.
When the war broke out in Shanghai, he moved to Taiji Temple and concurrently took charge of the temple affairs.
