Luo Ruxin was a native of Guangxi during the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, with his ancestral home in Ruizhou, Jiangxi.

His Taoist name was Qinchong, and his literary name was Shaoxuan. He became a Taoist Priest at an early age and studied under the tutelage of Qin Ruyan.

At the age of 15, his master passed away. In the 19th year of the Wanli era (1601), he went to the Gongguan Hall of Ziji Palace and became a disciple of He Xinjian, who renamed him "Ruxin".

When he was 17, he formally received the Taoist tonsure and coronation, and became a disciple of his precept master Xie Tiqian. He was given the Taoist name "Qinchong" and learned the "Xiantian You" (Innate Existence) Taoist magic, which proved highly effective.

Later, he made pilgrimages to famous Taoist mountains such as Wudang Mountain. He was officially granted a Taoist certificate (dudie) and the title of Daoji (a Taoist official position) along with the corresponding ceremonial attire. He upheld Taoist rituals and doctrines, established his own Taoist school, and eventually became the 14th abbot of the Gongguan Hall of Ziji Palace.
