Nangong Sect
According to Yi Xinying's Taoist Sect Classification Table, the Nangong Sect also goes by other names such as Lingtu, Fulü (Talisman and Registers), and Tiangang. Its methods include the principles of Yin-Yang, the Five Elements, Liugan (Six Stem-Branches), Qimen (Occult Arts), divine talismans, esoteric treatises, secret incantations, gang orders, Yu steps (ritual steps), shape-shifting, and dissolution. In essence, it is a talismanic branch of Taoism proficient in magical arts, tracing its origins to the Nine Heavens Mysterious Lady and Gui Yuqu.

It is also stated: The Nangong Sect is skilled in observing qi to discern directions, practicing secluded and secret methods, pursuing good fortune and avoiding misfortune, and using sword energy to eliminate evil. Its practitioners may transform through shape-shifting, hide their shadows, and so on. However, when practiced by those who go to extremes, it degenerates into evil arts like witchcraft and demonic practices, deluding the masses, confusing the common people, and thus incurring unforgivable sins in the world. The Sword Immortal Sect is also often referred to as the Nangong Sect.
