The Nine Solar Incineration Rites
The author is unknown. It was probably compiled during the Song Dynasty and Yuan Dynasty periods.
Consisting of one scroll, it is included in The Daozang (the authoritative collection of Taoist scriptures), specifically categorized under ritual texts in The Dongzhen Section (the True Reality Division).

As one of the Taoist lamp rituals, this text is used for transcending the deceased. Taoist practitioners hold a ritual retreat and light lamps to enshrine deities including the Taiyi Jiuku Tianzun (Supreme Unity Savior Heavenly Honored One), the Nine Heavens Creator God, the Nine-Yang Brahma Qi Heavenly Lord, the Nine Provinces Divine Lords, and the Underworld Judges of the Nine Hells. They pay homage and offer praises to the nine directions in sequence, recite The Precious Chapters of the Nine Heavens for Generating Spirits, and pray that the Nine-Yang Brahma Qi will shine universally over the Nine Hells, redeeming the deceased souls and elevating them to heaven. They also pray for themselves to attain the Dao, ascend to immortality, and avoid falling into the hells.
