The Numinous Treasure Golden Register Imperial Hymnal

Originally attributed to Zhang Shangying, Minister of the Right and concurrent Vice Minister of the Zhongshu Department, who compiled and revised it by imperial edict.

It consists of three scrolls, and is incorporated into the Hymns and Eulogies Section of The Dongzhen Section of The Daozang.

Scroll One contains ten Bu Xu Ci (Hymns to the Pacing of the Void), ten White Crane Eulogies and twenty Great Pure Bliss Melodies, all imperial compositions of Emperor Taizong of the Song Dynasty.

Scroll Two includes ten Bu Xu Ci (Hymns to the Pacing of the Void), ten Jade Pure Bliss Melodies, ten Great Pure Bliss Melodies, ten White Crane Eulogies and twenty Flower-Scattering Verses, all imperial compositions of Emperor Zhenzong of the Song Dynasty.

Scroll Three comprises ten Jade Pure Bliss Melodies, ten Supreme Pure Bliss Melodies, ten Great Pure Bliss Melodies, ten Bu Xu Ci (Hymns to the Pacing of the Void), ten Flower-Scattering Verses and ten White Crane Verses, all imperial compositions of Emperor Huizong of the Song Dynasty. In total, the above various hymns and eulogistic lyrics amount to one hundred and sixty pieces, all adopted for the performance of the Golden Register Fasting, expressing the longing for immortals and embodying the spiritual pursuit of The Dao.

The verses are refined and elegant in literary grace, suitable for both singing and chanting. According to the Bibliographical Outline of the Comprehensive Records, it records Imperial Compositions of Emperor Taizong for the Golden Register Fasting Taoist Hymns (1 scroll), Imperial Compositions of Emperor Zhenzong for the Golden Register Fasting Taoist Hymns (1 scroll) and Imperial Compositions of Emperor Huizong for the Golden Register Fasting Taoist Ritual Altar Hymns (1 scroll), which are undoubtedly the very text of this book.
